Winamax Buys bet-at-home’s Italian iGaming License
French online gambling operator Winamax has acquired the Italian online gambling concession from the Bet-at-home (Betclic) betting company. Winamax, the online poker market leader in France, is ready to enter the Italian market with the aim of playing a leading role in managing international games. The first step in Winamax Italia was the acquisition of the Mustapha Kanit poker champion.
In July, online gaming authorities in France, Portugal, Spain and Italy signed “an agreement on online cash in liquidity” in Rome, which was the first step in international online poker games, with tables shared among players in the four states, and which aims to relaunch online poker. In 2016 – according to data provided by the Politecnico Milan online observatory – online poker spending in Italy was 73, 2 million for cash (-12.5% compared to the previous year) and 64.9 million for tournaments (+ 3.2%).
