Sweden set to open new licensing system from July 1 2018
Lotteriinspektionen, The Swedish Gambling Authority is in the midst of a very busy period making preparations to start receiving applications for online licences from 1 July 2018.
Inspectorate Director Camilla Rosenberg said, “Assuming that the government and parliament take the necessary decisions, we will handle a comprehensive regulatory transformation of a significant and growing industry,”
Last week, Kindred’s CEO Henrik Tjärnström told the news agency Direkt that the Swedish regulatory regime was in danger of being delayed. This then is not certain that everything is really in place until the turn of the year 2018/2019 according to the Kindred boss.
In accordance with the new gaming legislation, the Inspectorate must become the Game Authority and take over all licensing of games. The tax on gaming surplus is 18 percent. Together with new laws for internet gaming on January 1, 2019.
