Sportech, holder of the sole Dutch tote betting license, announced it will close the seven remaining dedicated betting shops it operates in the Netherlands.

However, punters will still be able to visit over thirty physical sales outlets that are being operated in cooperation with retail partners. The company will also continue to offer bets online.

At one point, the Netherlands was home to no fewer than 98 betting shops, offering a variety of horse racing bets.

Paul Klomp, Managing Director Netherlands Venues and Online at Sportech, said that his company will continue to invest in cooperation with retail partners and the development of new game formats.
