The first quarter of the year is characterized by continued high mobile growth, expanded sports offerings, new subscription service for Lotto, and intensive preparation work for a new gaming market.

Net game revenues for the first quarter increased to SEK 2,187 M (2,157), which is 1.4 percent higher than the same quarter last year. The result of SEK 1,144 million (1,132) represents an increase of one percent, and the operating margin is 21.6 percent higher than the previous year (20.8).

Sales online grow by 25 percent, of which sales in mobile phones increase by 52 percent compared with the same quarter last year.

“We still show that it is possible to combine growth while taking clear responsibility for gaming. Customers respond positively to the news we deliver and in gaming responsibility, we see more and more volunteers shut down or pause themselves from gaming. By the end of March, approximately 21,100 customers were voluntarily suspended from gaming, “says Lennart Käll, President and CEO of Svenska Spel.

During the quarter Svenska Spel launched a subscription service for Lotto, an app for Oddset, and the range of sports games has been expanded in terms of life games. Throughout March, approximately 21,000 matches and sporting events have been offered compared with 10,000 the same period last year.

In parallel with the regular activities, Svenska Spel also works with the adaptation and division of the organization to meet the legal requirements of the new gaming market, which is expected to come into force on January 1, 2019.

“We are still strong as the entire Swedish people’s gaming company and meet customer demand for gaming experience with an expanded range and product development. Customers continue to give us high ratings in our satisfied customer index, and with broad margins we have the highest image value of the gaming companies. We look forward to the new gaming market, says Lennart Käll.
