Spain’s regulated iGaming market reports strong year-on-year growth
The net gaming margin in the online gaming sector in Spain, during the second quarter of the year reached 167.2 million euros, representing an increase of 2.33% compared to the previous quarter and a rise with respect to the same quarter of 2017 of 40.15%, according to the report issued by the General Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ) of that country.
The €167.2 million are distributed in 87.60 million euros in Bets (52.40%); € 3.28 million in Bingo (1.96%); € 56.52 million in Casino (33.80%), 0.34 million euros in Contests (0.21%) and € 19.45 million in poker (11.63%).
The betting segment has a growth rate compared to the previous quarter of 7.07% and 46.68% with respect to the same quarter of the previous year. The growth is mainly due to the conventional counterpart sports betting that grew by 32.75%, a development closely linked to the celebration of the 2018 Football World Cup Russia. Live betting decreased by -7.07% compared to the previous quarter .
