Australia roll out new self-exclude scheme

Business News

Australians will soon be able to ban themselves from online gambling sites, as part of a new federal scheme tackling addiction.

Social Services Minister Paul Fletcher says people will be able to nominate the amount of time they want to ban themselves and it will take effect across all online betting services.

Mr Fletcher says the self-exclusion scheme is expected to cost between one and three million dollars, funded by a levy on the gambling services.
