Online games in Portugal raise more than 640 million euros in the 3rd quarter

A new report published by Portugal’s Game Regulation and Inspection Service (SRIJ) and shows that betting volume in Portugal in the third quarter grew by 51.3% over the same period in 2017, totaling 642.5 million euros. By 2017, in the third quarter, bets had been recorded in the amount of 424.6 million euros.

The online gaming activity in Portugal was legalized in 2016 and as of the date of the report were authorized to engage in online gaming and gambling activity in Portugal only 8 entities, holding 13 licenses, 6 for sport betting at the quota and 7 to exploit games of chance, but in October another license was issued.

The volume of bets on gambling, in online casinos and card games, has overwhelming dominance, with 552.6 million euros from the 640 million bet in the third quarter of 2018, having grown by 60%.
