888 Holdings has hired Mark Summerfield as a non-executive director, chairing the gambling firm’s audit committee.

Summerfield was the interim finance chief at larger peer William Hill PLC between July 2016 and December 2017, “helping set the group’s strategic direction and assisting with its transformation and technology programmes”, 888 said.

He also spent 29 years at accounting firm KPMG, 18 of which was as partner, 888 added.

Chair Brian Mattingley said: “With his extensive experience working with boards and audit committees of major listed companies, Mark brings a wealth of experience to 888. This will be of considerable benefit as the company continues to grow and pursue its strategic objectives. He will be a valuable addition to the board and the audit committee and I am delighted that he has agreed to join us.”
