Swedish Gaming Authority appeal against Court’s decision in favour of Casino Cosmopol

Business News

The Swedish Gaming Inspectorate found that Casino Cosmopol had committed serious and systematic violations of the money laundering regulations.

The Gaming Inspectorate set the penalty fee to SEK 8 million. By a judgment on October 11, 2019, the administrative court changed the Gambling Inspectorate’s decision and reduced the penalty fee to SEK 3 million.

This is despite the fact that the administrative court shared the Gambling Inspectorate’s assessment that the company was guilty of serious and systematic violations of the regulations.

The Gaming Inspectorate does not consider that the reduction is justified. It is also not clear from the judgment of the administrative court why the court chose to reduce the penalty fee.

The authority has therefore chosen to appeal the judgment to the Administrative Court of Appeal in Jönköping.
