According to the 2019 report on online gambling in Portugal, by the Gaming Regulation and Inspection Service, the total value of the Special Tax on Online Gambling was €21 million, the market rose 39.1% year-on-year during Q3 2019 to €54m.

The value of online games betting was almost €214.2 million more than in the same quarter of 2019) and the value of online sports betting was approximately €112 million (€22.3 million more than in the same period of 2018).

The report also pointed out that since the entry into force of the Legal Framework for Online Gambling, on 29 June 2018, until the end of June 2019, there were 408 operators. 324 illegal online gambling sites were also closed down in that period.
