Pennsylvania Sports Betting Surges as Handle Tops $300M

Sports Betting

Thanks to the $266 million handle brought in via mobile platforms, Pennsylvania saw a total of $316.5 million in total handle in November, making it the strongest month for sports betting in the state’s history.

Hot off the press, these numbers mimic the growth recently reported in neighboring New Jersey, whose $487.8 million handle in November also set a state record and come in a full $100 million over the total reported in November of 2018.

Another correlation evident in the revenue reports provided by both states was the overwhelming market share mobile betting apps claimed when compared to their brick-and-mortar counterparts.

Of Pennsylvania’s $316 million handle, just over 84% of it came via mobile traffic, and mobile’s dominance has increased each month. New Jersey saw 86.5% of all wagers placed via mobile device, and the states 11 brick-and-mortar shops accounted for the remaining 13.5%.
