Interwetten reports another record year

Business News

Online sports betting pioneer Interwetten announces a new record for the 2019 financial year.

It was by far the best result in the company’s 30-year history. What is particularly remarkable about the record result is that it could be achieved in one year without a major football event.

In 2019, betting stakes rose to over € 2 billion for the first time, which means that gross gaming revenue even increased by 30% compared to 2018. With a gross gaming revenue (GGR) of € 99.5 million, the online gaming provider barely missed the € 100 million barrier and achieved a GGR growth of 25% compared to 2018. There is also an increase in the EBITDA margin to 22.4%, compared to 16.7% in 2018, which corresponds to an increase in the EBIDTA margin of 64.43%.

At Interwetten, 2019 was all about movement. At the beginning of the year Dominik Beier took over the position of CEO of Werner Becher, who had successfully carried out this activity for 7 years.

A new advertising campaign followed, including a new communicative appearance at the start of the football season. In the course of further marketing campaigns in the core markets of Germany, Austria, Spain and Greece, high-quality sponsorships were concluded, among others with the German Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg and the Greek football league.

Another focus was on the further development of the product: the gaming, LIVE streaming and virtual offerings were expanded massively, the mobile offer was revised in a first step. In the first quarter of 2020 there will be another product offensive with many new and exciting features for all Interwetten customers.

Dominik Beier, CEO of Interwetten : “This extraordinary result in 2019 results from great teamwork and great achievements across all areas of the company. A record result without achieving the European or World Cup soccer and considering the major regulatory challenges is really extraordinary. Our size and structure enable us to work flexibly and quickly. We now have to keep going full throttle. 2020 is a very important year, which will be marked by the product offensive, the European football championship and the expansion into new, regulated markets. “
