Ksa chairman calls on gambling providers to take responsibility

Business News

René Jansen, chairman of the board of directors of the Dutch Gaming Authority (Ksa), calls on gambling providers to behave responsibly when the online gambling market is open.

René Jansen made his call in his key note speech at the Annual Gaming Industry Event in Amsterdam. The Ksa chairman looked ahead to the entry into force of the Remote Gambling Act .

This is expected to be 1 January 2021. Applications for an online gambling license can then be submitted to the Ksa.

In his speech, Jansen pointed to the state of affairs in a number of neighboring countries. “In Italy, there is a ban on advertising for online gambling because the country was flooded with gambling advertising. In Belgium, too, the legislator intervened: the number of betting offices must be reduced and advertising is restricted. And in England, the National Health Service recently made an urgent call to gambling companies to curb the temptation tactics to gamble, to a great extent. “

The Ksa chairman called on the gambling providers and their advisers to ensure that repairs by the Dutch legislator would not be necessary in the future: ‘ Responsible gambling should not only be a PR slogan of providers; it should be part of the corporate DNA of gambling providers, online and country-specific. This includes that providers take a very responsible approach, do not push the boundaries of laws and regulations; in short, give no cause for social criticism. “
