Sportsbet brand to replace BetEasy
BetEasy is set to be taken over by Sportsbet following the merger of their parent companies The Stars Group and Flutter Entertainment.
Shareholders of both Flutter Entertainment and Stars Group are still to vote on the merger but that is set to take place in the coming days.
In Australia, the merger was given informal approval by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in February while the UK competition similarly gave the proposal the green light in April.
A Sportsbet spokesperson said ‘Flutter currently intends to pursue a single brand strategy for its Australian operation’.
“This is subject to ratification once the proposed combination with TSG is completed.
“We are now intending to pursue a single brand strategy principally because of the ongoing volatility to sporting competitions around the world and the wider economy stemming from COVID-19.
‘We would also be able to execute a single brand customer migration in a shorter timeframe, allowing us to focus our attention on providing the best possible experience for our customers.”
