The Australian National Rugby League (NRL) negotiated a deal with the sports betting provider Betfair Australia.

However, as the Sydney Morning Herald reported earlier this week, the deal is expensive for the bookmaker.

The partnership should cost four times as much as the arrangement between Betfair and the Australian Football League (AFL). The reason for this is the significantly higher fees that the NRL requires for the granting of rights.

After the negotiations in February initially failed, the parties had now found a compromise after months. Rugby fans can now bet on NRL games through Betfair and participate in the Betfair betting exchange.
