Bethard sees Swedish penalty reduced

Business News

The Swedish gaming regulator Spelinspektionen has decided that the complaint awarded by the Administrative Court in Linköping to Bethard Group must be combined with a penalty fee of SEK 400,000.

Bethard Group offered betting on two U19 football matches, the majority of which were under 18 years of age. On June 26, 2019, the gaming regulator decided to issue a warning to Bethard Group with a penalty fee of SEK 2,500,000.

Bethard Group appealed the decision to the Administrative Court, which in April this year overturned the gambling regulators’s decision and ordered that Bethard be notified instead.

At the same time, the Administrative Court handed over to the gaming regulator to consider whether the complaint would be combined with a penalty fee.

In view of the purpose of the legislation and what is stated in the judgment of the Administrative Court, the Gaming Inspectorate assesses that the remark must be combined with a penalty fee of SEK 400,000.
