PointsBet have announced the appointment of sports media veteran Len Mead as Vice President of Content, effective 19 October 2020.

“I’m thrilled to join PointsBet and be able to contribute to their impressive and innovative approach toward the US sports betting market,” said Mead.

“Their product is best in brand, and I welcome this unique opportunity to create content that will help expand PointsBet visibility, awareness and trust while working with the team’s deep list of partners to grow PointsBet to the next level.”

Mead most recently served as Vice President of Broadcasting & Media Partnerships for the XFL, where he was responsible for the first-year football league’s innovative telecasts which generated critical acclaim, greatly surpassing expected ratings and audience reception. Mead was instrumental in the XFL’s delivery of unprecedented access for fans, as well as their ground-breaking integrations around sports betting.

During his 25+ years in the industry, Mead has led sports programming strategy and negotiations at some of the most respected media companies in the United States, including NBC Sports, ESPN, and NESN (New England Sports Network). Mead has collaborated with the nation’s most popular sports properties (NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, MLS, NASCAR) and partnered with leading sports media platforms. He has launched innovative new distribution platforms including NBC Sports’ first regional DTC service (BlazersPass), ESPN’s live digital sports platform, ESPN3 (then ESPN360), and ESPN’s popular ‘MegaCast’ concept (then known as “ESPN Full Circle”).

“The growing PointsBet team is very excited to add a key executive in Len,” noted Rick Martira, PointsBet Chief Marketing Officer. “His tremendous work ethic, ability, and experience, as well as his understanding of the media landscape and how to authentically capitalize on the growth of sports betting, will be extremely valuable as we continue to build the PointsBet brand and expand across the United States.”
