Sisal is preparing to tender for the UK lottery franchise when it comes up for renewal this year.

The Italian lottery operator is competing against Camelot and others to run the UK’s major lottery from 2023 onwards. 

The focus on digital lottery growth is itself a major focus of the Gambling Commission in deciding who will be awarded the license to operate the National Lottery. 

After submitting the selection questionnaire earlier this month, Sisal has been accepted into the competition by the Gambling Commission, the body running the competition. CVC Capital Partners is behind an offer put forward by Sisal.

Sisal will now review the final bid application documents and continue to assemble a strong consortium capable of submitting a winning bid in 2021.
