ATG receive warning from Swedish gambling regulator

Regulation

Swedish gambling regulator Spelinspektionen has informed ATG that the gaming company had offered games on a horse ridden by a driver under 18 years of age.

The incident occurred at Sundbyholm’s trotting track, Eskilstuna, 12 January. Due to what happened, the Swedish Gaming Inspectorate has decided to give ATG a reprimand.

It was an isolated event and we reported ourselves when it came to our knowledge. After the incident, both we and our owners Svensk Travsport have introduced new control systems so that this can not happen again, says Nicklas Jonsson, Head of Horse Betting at ATG. In its decision, the Swedish Gaming Inspectorate writes: “In the present case, ATG has offered betting on a horse ridden by a rider who at the time was under 18 years of age. There is no disagreement between Spelinspektionen and ATG about these conditions. ”

It is not permitted to offer betting on individual achievements for a participant in a match, competition or tournament if he is under 18 years of age. Furthermore, the Swedish Gaming Inspectorate writes: “

However, the current infringement, which concerns a single case, took place less than two weeks after the Swedish Gaming Inspectorate’s regulations – which constitute a completely new set of rules – came into force.

It also appears from the investigation in the case that ATG at the time of the infringement was in the implementation phase of routines aimed at ensuring that minors are not subject to betting. Finally, there is nothing in the case to suggest that the infringement constitutes a systematic deficiency on the part of ATG or any of the company’s partners.
