Ivan Toney accepts breaching FA betting rules
Brentford striker Ivan Toney has admitted breaching FA betting rules. Because of his admissions, Toney is set to face a lengthy ban from football and the belief is that suspension could begin before the end of the current campaign.
Toney will now face a disciplinary panel and could be suspended before the end of the season. Brentford are now expecting to lose their talismanic frontman, who has scored 14 Premier League goals in 21 games this season, for an extended period.
Toney made Gareth Southgate’s squad last autumn, though he was not in the 26-man party which travelled to the World Cup in Qatar.
England defender Kieran Trippier was banned for 10 weeks by the FA in December 2020 for giving out information for others to bet on his transfer from Tottenham to Atletico Madrid.
