Football fans back gambling sponsor ban

The Premier League’s ban on gambling brands as shirt sponsors has the approval of most fans a YouGov new survey shows.

Three-quarters (77%) of UK football favour of recent banning of gambling companies from appearing as shirt sponsors, according to a recent YouGov poll.

The survey comes as Premier League clubs announced last week that they would ban gambling companies from appearing as match-day front-of-shirt sponsors from the 2026-27 season onwards.

Premier League clubs agreed to the measure voluntarily, although gambling firms will still be permitted as shirt sleeve and pitchside sponsors.
