Illinois Gaming Board officials on Thursday authorized the Hard Rock Casino Rockford to operate a sportsbook. It granted a license to 815 Entertainment LLC., the ownership group of the casino, and Seminole Hard Rock Digital LLC. which will operate online sports wagering via an app.

The app should allow gamblers to place wagers from anywhere in the state.

“We are excited to add sports betting as the latest amenity,” Hard Rock Casino Rockford President Geno Iafrate said in a written statement.

“We are very appreciative of the IGB’s hard work and diligence to get us to this point. We still have work to do as we finalize our internal controls and begin hiring and training. We are hopeful to launch sports betting within the next couple of months.”
