Legal sports betting is now legal in Kentucky bettors can expect to have a bevy of sportsbook promo codes and wagering options.

The final step toward legalization was HB 551 passing the state legislature in March, effectively legalizing sports betting and paving the way for the official launch in September. 

Licensed operators will be officially approved on August 22 before pre-registration for Kentucky mobile sports betting begins on August 28, 2023.

Retail sports betting will come first in the process when the state’s horse tracks open their sportsbooks and start taking bets on September 7. Three weeks later, online sports betting will launch on September 28, so bettors will be able to wager on their phones right in the thick of college football and the NFL season.

The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission determined that sports betting will go live on the NFL opener, with online sports betting legal three weeks later.
