Stake․com reportedly hacked for $41 million
Stake.com, the world’s largest cryptocurrency casino, has reportedly fallen victim to a cyber-attack, resulting in a big loss of $41.3 million.
Stake.com confirmed that “unauthorised” transactions had taken place but said user funds were safe.
“We are investigating and will get the wallets up as soon as they’re completely re-secured. User funds are safe. BTC, LTC, XRP, EOS, TRX + all other wallets remain fully operational,” Stake said via its X (formerly Twitter) account.
“All services have resumed! Deposits & withdrawals are processing instantly for all currencies. We apologise for any inconvenience,” Stake announced four hours later.
A spokesman for Stake.com confirmed one ethereum hot wallet had been the subject of a cyberattack.
“There was no significant impact on service,” he said. “We can confirm that users couldn’t withdraw ethereum for a couple of hours. But all withdrawals are back and working. No customer or client has suffered any loss.”
Stake.com is working with authorities with the aim of recovering funds. Stake.com is not related to Australian online sharebroker Stake.
