Maryland sports wagering tops $3 billion

Maryland’s sportsbooks generated $3.02 billion in the first nine months of the year and contributed $3,231,427 to the state in 2023.

Statewide handle in September totaled $442,450,666, with mobile handle accounting for 95.1% of the total at $420,957,789. 

NFL handle accounted for 17% of the month’s total Maryland sports betting handle, according to figures released by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission. Nearly 95% of that money wagered in sports betting was done through mobile apps. The rest occurred at sports betting parlors.

Mobile wagering delivered $2,888,568 in contributions to the state during September, while retail sportsbooks contributed $342,859.
