DraftKings launches retail sportsbook at Wrigley Field
The new DraftKings sportsbook at Wrigley Field has “finally begun taking bets,” and DraftKings is hosting a grand opening event today with former NFLer Kyle Long who is scheduled to make the “ceremonial bet” kicking off the gambling era at Wrigley.
The Illinois Gaming Board last week approved a retail sports wagering license for the DraftKings, a “long-awaited move” that gave DraftKings the green light to accept wagers at its betting kiosks in the two-story addition adjacent to the ballpark, which debuted with bar and restaurant service last June.
The 17,000-square-foot space “adds a gambling aspect to the Friendly Confines” and another new revenue source for the Ricketts family, which has spent “well over half a billion dollars modernizing it and redeveloping its surrounding property over the past decade”
The facility, located at 1012 W Addison St., boasts a massive 2000-square-foot video screen and a cutting-edge AV system.
