In March, The Illinois Lottery generated sales of $377.5 million and related prize expense of $248.1 million.

According to the press release, mega million sales were up 20% and at least $1 million in prizes were collected by Illinois lottery players in March.

It was also a record-breaking month for the Illinois lottery, which reported a net income of $882 million That number represents a 5.7% increase over 2023.

Lottery officials credited the number of massive jackpots in the Mega Millions and Powerball games for helping drive the growth in sales. There were three jackpots worth over $1 billion during the fiscal year, according to officials.
