Operator Betfred is pulling the plug on its US ambitions with a decision to exit Maryland.

Betfred announced in October 2023 the grand opening of its state-of-the-art sportsbook at Long Shot’s, a premier OTB, in the Capital Region. 

Spanning an impressive 6,300 square feet, this latest addition is set to revolutionize the sports betting scene in Central Maryland. One of the standout features of the modern sportsbook was its seamless integration of technology for added convenience.

Patrons could easily place cash bets at the betting counter for enhanced ease, they can deposit or withdraw funds directly to and from their Betfred Online Account.

The sports betting app struggled to gain market share in Maryland, with a May handle below $500,000. While FanDuel accepted $195.2 million worth of online bets in Maryland last month.
