Esportes da Sorte speaks out on money laundering investigation
One of the targets of “Operation Integration”, which is investigating an alleged money laundering and illegal gambling scheme, the bookmaker Esportes da Sorte issued an official statement, through the company’s legal director, Gabriel Oliveira, about the investigations and the company’s alleged involvement.
In the statement, sent to Folha de Pernambuco on the evening of last Sunday (8), Gabriel Oliveira reaffirmed the company’s commitment to legality and transparency.
According to the company’s legal director, Esportes da Sorte “was created with the purpose of bringing entertainment and fun”, highlighting that the company, one of the main online betting companies in Brazil, operates within a consolidated and legalized sector.
Gabriel also highlighted the company’s efforts to humanize the digital world and treat customers and partners “with all respect and transparency”.
The statement highlighted that all of the company’s financial operations are carried out through institutions approved by the Central Bank, reinforcing its performance within the “highest standards of law and ethics”.
Oliveira also stated that the recent investigations are doing a “disservice to the nation” and “undermine the truth”, claiming that Esportes da Sorte has always been a transparent company.
Regarding the accusations of involvement in illicit activities, the Legal Director was categorical: “We are guilty of transparency, we are guilty of having evidence and operating within the law”.
The executive also mentioned that the company has led initiatives for safe and effective regulation of the betting sector in Brazil.
Also in the statement, Oliveira harshly criticized the conduct of the investigations, stating that they tore apart what is known about fundamental guarantees and directly impacted not only the company, but also thousands of jobs generated by the sector.
Gabriel also highlighted that Esportes da Sorte “remains at the disposal of justice” and that, despite the crisis, “it will emerge much stronger”.
The operation investigating Esportes da Sorte is the same operation that arrested, last Wednesday (4), in Recife, the lawyer and digital influencer Deolane Bezerra and her mother, Solange Bezerra.
