Paddy Power team up with ex-world champion Tony Bellew

Paddy Power have released an advert brutally mocking Jake Paul just days before he enters the ring to fight former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.

Paul, 27, a YouTuber-turned-boxer, is due to face Tyson, who is 31 years his senior, in Texas on Friday night, with the fight due to be streamed live on Netflix.

The bout has been heavily criticised by some fans not happy that Paul has brought Tyson out of retirement, 19 years after his last professional fight.

It is not the first time that Paul has been criticised for his choice of opponents, having previously taken on a handful of ageing UFC stars rather than legitimate boxers since stepping into the ring for the first time back in January 2020.

Now, Paddy Power have teamed up with ex-world champion Tony Bellew for an advert titled ‘Finding Jake Paul’s next opponent’, and the search doesn’t appear to have been particularly extensive.

The advert shows Bellew training a number of elderly men in his gym, after claiming his nan told him there were ‘a right few hard nuts in her retirement home’.

He follows up by joking that the talent level among the pensioners is ‘brutal’ as the men tap away at the punchbag at a pedestrian pace.

Paul has repeatedly called out Mexican legend Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, but one 70-year-old man in the clip insisted he was ‘just as likely’ to get his hands on Paul.

The controversial American has also made a name for himself with his trash talk and use of social media.
