Pennsylvania gambling revenue tops $6 billion in 2024
Pennsylvania gambling revenues soared to record heights in 2024, exceeding $6 billion for the first time thanks primarily to growth in online gaming.
Income hit these highs despite declining revenue from slot machines and table games compared to 2023, according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. But these dips were nothing next to the 25% spike in money from online gambling, the board said.
Pennsylvania officials collected almost $2.7 billion in taxes on these gaming revenues and from annual slot machine license operation fees.
The state reported that in 2024: online gaming revenue increased by 25.25% to $2.2 billion, sports betting revenue climbed by 11.36% to about $511 million; and fantasy contests revenue dropped by 7.08% to $18.7 million.
Altogether, Pennsylvania gambling revenues in 2024 jumped by 7.73% to reach more than $6.1 billion, the gaming control board reported.
