Portuguese trade body launches criminal complaint against Rokubet
The Portuguese Online Betting and Gaming Association (APAJO) has made a criminal complaint against Rokubet for comedian Alexandre Santos promoting Illegal online gambling games with the operator online.
APAJO remains attentive to what is happening, and in a statement reveals that ‘in February it filed a criminal complaint against comedian Alexandre Santos and the unlicensed operator Rokubet.
Since 2023, APAJO has filed criminal complaints against more than twenty public figures, influencers and content creators, unlicensed operators, resulting in the initiation of investigations by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Among the operators targeted is Rokubet, which has adopted strategies to circumvent the blocks imposed by the authorities, resorting to frequent domain changes.
The platform is characterized by the absence of identity verification in the registration process, which makes it accessible to minors and other vulnerable groups.
Furthermore, Rokubet demonstrates a clear intention to attract consumers in Portugal by offering deposit methods such as MBWay and instant transfers through Novo Banco and Santander Totta, reinforcing the need for strict measures to protect users and ensure compliance with current legislation.
