LeoVegas fined SEK8 million in Sweden over duty of care failings
LeoVegas trading as Roar Vegas has been issued a warning and a SEK8 million penalty fee for failing to fulfil its obligations relating to its duty of care by the Swedish gambling regulator Spelinspektionen.
Roar Vegas Ltd breached the duty of care in Chapter 14. The breach consists of the company failing to sufficiently help three of the twelve customers examined to reduce their gambling when there was reason to do so.
The three customers have all had excessive gambling and there have been several indicators of this. The company has indeed taken effective measures to help the customers reduce their gambling.
However, the Swedish Gambling Authority considers that the company should have intervened with effective measures earlier than they did. The company’s failure to do so constitutes a breach of the Gambling Act. Roar Vegas should therefore be given a warning together with a penalty fee.
