The year 2024, marked by a combination of favorable and unprecedented factors for Loterie Romande, that generated gross gaming revenue of CHF 438.2 million and an exceptional profit of CHF 258.2 million for the public good.

Nearly 5,000 projects and associations, particularly in the fields of sports, culture, and social action, can count on this essential support each year.

In 2024, Loterie Romande continued its commitment to preventing and combating excessive gambling, both online and in its 2,400 points of sale. Each partner retailer has completed mandatory training to prevent underage gambling.

The General Meeting of the Loterie Romande, held on May 15, 2025, in Delémont, approved the 2024 operating accounts. Gross gaming revenue, i.e., the amounts wagered less winnings paid to players, reached the exceptional sum of CHF 438.2 million.

A combination of favorable and unique factors boosted the gross gaming revenue and profits of the Loterie Romande in 2024. “The Swiss Loto experienced a particularly long jackpot cycle of 27 weeks, allowing a lucky winner to win the largest prize in the game’s history in March 2024.

This dynamic piqued the interest of casual players and increased the results of the draw games,” explains Jean-Luc Moner-Banet, CEO of the Loterie Romande. Added to this are the Euro 2020 football tournament and the Olympic Games, which have helped promote a safe and legal sports betting offering, in accordance with the mission entrusted to it by the legislature.

“While encouraging for the public good, this result is explained by a combination of unprecedented factors and does not herald an upward trend in gross gaming revenue or profits for the coming years,” adds Jean-Luc Moner-Banet.

Measures to combat underage gambling and excessive gambling, the mission entrusted to the Loterie Romande by the legislature is to offer a secure, attractive, and responsible gaming offering.

The institution implements a comprehensive program of social measures to protect the population against the risks associated with excessive gambling, approved by the Intercantonal Gambling Supervisory Authority (Gespa). In 2024, Loterie Romande continued its ongoing efforts and conducted an awareness-raising process across its entire sales network: each of the 2,400 points of sale completed mandatory training to combat underage gambling.

In addition, the visibility of prevention and awareness messages was increased. Sales advisors participated in training on detecting risky behavior, how to respond to problem gambling, and how to refer players to specialized support centers.

Loterie Romande successfully renewed its two Responsible Gaming certifications, awarded by European Lotteries and the World Lottery Association. External auditors noted the relevance and excellence of the measures implemented to prevent and combat excessive gambling.
