FanDuel Donates $200,000 to North Carolina Food Banks to Support Hunger Relief
FanDuel, North America’s premier online gaming company and an Official Sports Betting Partner of the Carolina Panthers, today announced it is donating $200,000 to two food banks in North Carolina to support hunger relief and provide one million meals across the state.
The donations include $100,000 to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, the state’s largest hunger relief organization, and $100,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, which supplies food in the Charlotte metro area throughout a 24-county region across North and South Carolina. FanDuel TV’s Kay Adams presented the checks to both organizations during a visit to Carolina Panthers training camp, whereAdams filmed an episode of “Up & Adams.”
“With hunger at a near 20-year high and drastic cuts to federal support on the horizon, this generous contribution couldn’t come at a more important time for our communities,” said Food Bank President & CEO Amy Beros. “The stakes have never been higher — and we hope FanDuel’s incredible investment will inspire fans throughout the region to get involved in the fight to end hunger.”
“We are grateful for the support from FanDuel with this generous donation that is going to enable us to make a real difference in the lives of so many of our neighbors throughout the Charlotte region,” said Kay Carter, CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. “Having partners like FanDuel who share a commitment to giving back allows us to reach even more families in need and strengthen the community we all call home.”
The FanDuel donations come as new data reveals a worsening hunger crisis in North Carolina, with over 1.6 million people facing food insecurity statewide. The number of people who don’t have the resources to consistently keep food on the table has grown by more than 380,000 since the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021.
“FanDuel is committed to making a positive impact in the communities in which we operate, and we recognize the essential role that food security plays in helping families and communities thrive,” said Keita Young, Community Impact Vice President at FanDuel. “We are proud to support the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina as they deliver critical programs that work to end hunger.”
The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina works to end hunger across 34 North Carolina counties via regional hubs in Raleigh, Durham, Greenville, New Bern, Southern Pines, and Wilmington. FanDuel’s donation will directly support the Food Bank’s efforts to provide healthy, Carolina-grown foods across its network of 700+ local pantries, no-cost markets, meal sites, and delivery programs.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina works to end hunger across 14 counties in North Carolina including Anson, Burke, Cabarrus, Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Montgomery, Rowan, Rutherford, Stanly and Union. It also serves 10 counties in South Carolina including Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Greenwood, Lancaster, Oconee, Pickens, Spartanburg, Union, and York.
