Montana’s sports betting revenue saw an impressive 26% increase in July, reaching $3.7 million, which marks a new record for wagering in the state.

Known as the Treasure State, Montana has a population of approximately 1.1 million as of 2024. Legal sports betting has been a part of the state’s offerings since 2020, although the development of this industry has been somewhat conservative.

Data from the Montana Lottery reveals that 25,383 individuals placed bets totalling $695,837 on the big game via Sports Bet Montana.

The average bet came in at $23.95. Interestingly, the bettors faced tough competition from the house, with the state only paying out $427,867, resulting in a net gain of $267,971 for Montana. Between 2021 and June 2023, the overall sports betting revenue amounted to $146,743,018.

Of that, $126,846,497 was paid out to bettors, while the state collected $6,045,584. Since its launch in March 2020, Montana’s sports betting market has operated exclusively through the Sports Bet Montana platform provided by the state lottery.
