Holland Casino reports €390.9 million in H1 revenue

Finance News

Holland Casino posted a positive result of €14.2 million in the first half of 2025. This is a significant improvement compared to the €3.5 million loss in the same period last year.

This is primarily due to a series of cost-saving measures the company has implemented since the beginning of this year.

Total revenue decreased slightly to €390.9 million. Revenue at the casinos grew slightly, while online revenue declined.

The number of visits to the casinos increased slightly from 2,565,472 to 2,582,498. Guests also spent slightly more per visit on average.

The introduction of the statutory limits as of October 1, 2024, particularly impacted online revenue. Holland Casino managed to reduce operating costs by €30.1 million. This is the result of targeted savings, including a restructuring at the head office.

The liquidity position has also improved, partly due to a six-month payment holiday on the coronavirus debt and a two-year extension of the repayment.

Holland Casino also experienced one-off financial windfalls from the sale of the land belonging to the former casino in Groningen (€2.7 million) and the Zandvoort location (€8.7 million). This resulted in a €6.6 million increase in profit. These one-off revenues were excluded from the structural reduction in operating costs.

CFO Ruud Bergervoet: “We’ve demanded a lot from our employees, but the results are certainly impressive. I’m especially proud that our guests continue to visit and appreciate us. But we can’t count ourselves lucky. The financial pressure remains high, especially in light of the planned second increase in the gaming tax in 2026. If the gaming tax rate had already been at 37.8 percent, we would now have closed the first half of the year with a profit of €1.1 million, or a loss of €5.5 million if we hadn’t received the one-off revenue from sales. This demonstrates how vulnerable we are, despite all our efforts so far.”
