DraftKings debuts retail sportsbook in Puerto Rico
DraftKings and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, and LionGrove have announced the opening of a new DraftKings retail sportsbook at Foxwoods El San Juan Casino in Puerto Rico during the property’s four-year anniversary celebration.
Together with Foxwoods, DraftKings plans to introduce its top-rated online sportsbook in the coming months, pending licensure and regulatory approvals.
Puerto Rico joins 28 U.S. states where the company currently operates regulated sports betting, as well as Washington, D.C. and Ontario, Canada. This launch brings DraftKings’ premier sports betting experience to Puerto Rico’s vibrant and passionate sports community.
“Puerto Rico has an incredible sports culture and a deep connection to entertainment,” said Paul Liberman, DraftKings President of Operations. “We’re thrilled to bring our retail sportsbook to the Foxwoods El San Juan Casino and look forward to providing eligible customers with a fun, seamless, and responsible way to engage with their favorite sports.”
The Foxwoods El San Juan Casino offers guests a world-class gaming and entertainment experience in one of the Caribbean’s most iconic destinations. Celebrating its four-year anniversary this November, the property marked the occasion with an exciting event which featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony and ceremonial first bet with Yankees legend Jorge Posada to officially open the DraftKings retail sportsbook. The new retail sportsbook includes sports betting kiosks, over-the-counter ticket window and a sports lounge.
“We’re proud to continue building on our legacy of innovation and entertainment at Foxwoods El San Juan Casino,” said Rodney Butler, Chairman, Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. “The addition of the DraftKings retail sportsbook marks another exciting milestone as we deliver new experiences to guests and sports fans in Puerto Rico.”
