Indiana lawmakers introduce Bill to ban sweepstakes

Legislation

Just as New York’s bill S5935, Indiana has tabled its own bill to ban dual-currency games in the state. There, Representative Ehtan Manning introduces HB 1052.

This legislation targets online sweepstakes operations by amending existing laws and establishing penalties for violations within Indiana. A primary focus of the bill is to dismantle the business model of two-currency platforms that allow players to exchange virtual tokens for real money.

Manning and his co-authors were clear to define what they termed sweepstakes games as online games that use a dual-currency system that can be exchanged for cash and cash prizes.

They also simulate casino-style games like slots, video poker, table games, lottery games, bingo, and sports wagering.
