Underdog to exit North Carolina sports betting market

Sports Betting

Underdog is set to conclude its sports betting operations in North Carolina next Wednesday, as indicated on its website.

This decision follows the company’s announcement that it would not be launching legal sports betting in Missouri on December 1, opting instead to provide sports predictions just days prior to the state’s market opening.

To replace the sportsbook, Underdog will introduce sports predictions, which are currently available in 25 states. North Carolina remains the sole state with access to Underdog’s sportsbook, while the company obtained a sports betting license in Ohio but did not proceed with a launch.

The terms outlined for the shutdown in North Carolina indicate an intention to retain existing sportsbook customers on the platform. According to Underdog’s FAQ regarding the shutdown, any outstanding bets as of December 18 will be paid out at the maximum allowable amount, which includes parlays that pay out after this date.

Customers need not withdraw their funds from Underdog, as accounts will remain accessible for daily fantasy sports following the shutdown of the sportsbook. Additionally, any bonus funds in customer accounts on December 18 will be converted into withdrawable funds.
