FanDuel Predicts expands to 12 more states

Prediction Markets

FanDuel Predicts has officially expanded its services into California, Texas, Florida, and ten additional states as of Wednesday.

The prediction market platform, which launched in December, is now accessible in 18 states. This recent expansion means FanDuel Predicts operates in fewer than half of the states where traders can access DraftKings Predictions.

The back-to-back rollouts of these prediction market products in December signal an increasing competition among major sportsbook operators eager to establish their presence in regulated event trading. With the addition of the three most populous states in the nation, FanDuel Predicts is now able to offer sports event contracts linked to the NFL Divisional Round playoffs occurring this weekend, as well as the College Football National Championship Game on Monday night between Miami and Indiana.

In contrast, DraftKings Predictions is currently active in 38 states and provides a comprehensive range of sports contract trading in 17 states. Both FanDuel Predicts and DraftKings Predictions are available for sports-related contracts in California, Texas, and Georgia—regions where sports betting is still prohibited.

This week, legislators re-introduced a bill aimed at legalizing sports betting in Georgia via the state lottery. Both FanDuel and DraftKings have indicated they will cease offering sports event contracts in any state that subsequently legalises sports betting.
