Robinhood excludes some prediction markets due to manipulation and insider trading issues

Prediction Markets

US broker Robinhood has excluded some prediction markets from its push into the fast-growing sector over concerns they encourage manipulation and insider trading.

The company is highly focused on market manipulation issues when developing this business and will not offer all types of event contracts to users.

Recent incidents of “precise betting” have drawn significant regulatory attention. Furthermore, “market mentions” (such as betting on specific words to appear in public speeches) have been explicitly excluded from Robinhood’s offerings due to their susceptibility to manipulation.

Currently, Robinhood primarily provides compliant prediction market services through partnerships with Kalshi and ForecastEx. Its strategy prioritizes regulated platforms and products to mitigate risks associated with information misuse, insider trading, and cross-border compliance.
