Paddy Power turns Dublin wheel clamps into ads for Comedy Festival

A new initiative from BBH Dublin aimed to spark social conversations in anticipation of last week’s Paddy Power Comedy Festival.
Anyone who has parked on the streets of Dublin knows the frustration of encountering the city’s infamous yellow clamp.
However, where drivers see an inconvenience, Paddy Power creatively transformed it into an opportunity for humor during times that call for a chuckle.
The innovative outdoor activation by BBH Dublin reimagines yellow wheel clamps as playful billboard messages to promote the Paddy Power Comedy Festival.

Beginning in the days that led up to the festival, the wheel clamps made appearances on immobilised cars throughout Dublin. Footage capturing these humorous moments was shared on social media to build excitement for the event.
Marcos Gemal, Executive Creative Director at BBH Dublin, remarked, “Paddy Power is all about encouraging laughter. We were eager to discover a new media space that guarantees everyone involved could use a good laugh.”
Dean Finn, Senior Marketing Manager at Paddy Power, added, “Wheel clamps are typically not associated with joy. Thankfully, the Paddy Power Comedy Festival brings exactly that.
By replacing an unpleasant surprise with a hearty laugh, we feel we’ve succeeded.” Individuals who noticed the clamped cars were treated to complimentary tickets to the Paddy Power Comedy Festival.
