The Unit opens up new office in Moldova

The Unit has reached another major milestone in its international growth with the opening of its new development hub in Chișinău.

The new office embodies The Unit’s rapid expansion, replacing the original 125 sq. m. premises opened in 2024, which quickly reached capacity as The Unit’s Moldovan team continued to grow. The new hub spans 500 sq. m. and provides a modern, collaborative workspace designed to support the company’s next phase of growth.

The expansion comes as The Unit’s Moldova team has grown to more than 90 employees, a significant increase since the company first established its presence in Chișinău. During the same period, The Unit has almost doubled its global workforce, increasing headcount from 75 to 140 employees across Ireland, Moldova, Gibraltar and New York.

The new office was officially opened during a visit from The Unit’s senior leadership team from Dundalk, with colleagues from across the business coming together to celebrate the evolution of the Moldova operation from a growing technology hub into one of the company’s principal international offices.

Today, the Chișinău office plays a central role in delivering products for clients across Europe, combining technical excellence with a strong product mindset and a collaborative, cross-functional culture. Far from functioning as a satellite engineering centre, The Unit’s Moldova operation has evolved into one of the company’s principal product and technology hubs. The team brings together expertise across product management, project delivery, software engineering, quality assurance and AI-driven solutions, working alongside colleagues across the business to own products from initial discovery and strategy through development, testing, deployment and continuous improvement.

“When we opened our first office in Chișinău, less than two years ago, we knew we had found something special,” Paddy Casey, Co-Founder of The Unit. “What we perhaps didn’t anticipate was just how quickly the team would grow, and how central Moldova would become to The Unit’s success. Our colleagues here are integral to our operations, helping to shape our products, work directly with clients, and collaborate with teams across every part of the business.”

The investment further demonstrates The Unit’s long-term confidence in Moldova as one of Europe’s emerging technology hubs. Home to a highly educated, multilingual workforce and a thriving software development community, the country continues to attract international technology businesses seeking world-class engineering talent.

“The growth we’ve experienced over the past two years has been incredible,” said Artiom Bazirca, Managing Director of The Unit Moldova. “Today we’re much more than an engineering centre. We bring together product managers, project leaders, engineers and QA specialists who work closely with colleagues across The Unit to deliver products from concept through to launch and ongoing optimisation. That’s something we’re incredibly proud of.”

The expansion forms part of The Unit’s long-term commitment to Moldova as one of its key talent hubs, enabling the company to recruit exceptional new colleagues, while creating stronger opportunities for existing employees to develop their careers. The new hub has significantly enhanced the onboarding experience for new hires, encouraged greater collaboration between teams, and fostered more knowledge-sharing and mentoring across the business.

“One of the things we’re most proud of is that The Unit operates as one global team — whether someone is based in Dundalk, Chișinău, Gibraltar or New York, they’re part of the same conversations, solving the same challenges and building the same products,” said Alan Bruce, COO of The Unit. “There can still be outdated perceptions about technology hubs outside some of Europe’s larger cities, but anyone who visits this office quickly realises the quality of the talent, the professionalism of the team and the environment we’ve created. It’s a workplace that rivals any technology company anywhere in Europe.”
