Tennessee sports wagers surge 35% in July
Tennessee bettors wagered $412,056,546 in July 2026, up 38.6% from the $298.0 million staked a year earlier, and the state’s sportsbooks reported $37,943,180 in adjusted gross income.
Tennessee collected $7,588,636. The month’s most striking figure is not the growth, though it is substantial. It is the hold: 9.19%, against 9.25% in July 2025 and 9.23% in July 2024. Three consecutive Julys have landed inside a range of six hundredths of a percentage point. Figures come from the Tennessee Sports Wagering Council.
Handle grew 52.1% across those two years. The margin did not move.
That combination is unusual enough to be worth stating plainly. Most markets show margin drift as they mature, either climbing as parlay betting takes hold or compressing as promotional competition intensifies. Tennessee added $141.5 million in monthly volume and held almost precisely the same share of it in each of three years.
