The city of Detroit has announced it will look into the recent painting of a water tower that prominently displays the name and logo of Polymarket, that has recently found itself at odds with state Attorney General Dana Nessel regarding its legal standing in Michigan.

Located on the city’s east side, the tower, now adorned in Polymarket’s dark blue branding, is situated near General Motors’ Factory Zero and is easily visible to drivers on I-94.

The water tower stands on the property of a private industrial concrete recycling business. City officials indicated on September 16 that they would assess the site to determine if the new branding qualifies as an advertisement that requires a permit, as there appears to be no permit on file.

Polymarket is seemingly increasing its visibility in Detroit, it continues to navigate a legal gray area in the state. A federal lawsuit filed earlier this year contends that the federal Commodity Futures Trading Commission, rather than the Michigan Gaming Control Board, should oversee its operations.
