Dutch gambling regulator issues notice on account closures
The Dutch Gaming Authority (Ksa) has found that not all licensed gambling operators are properly complying with the rules regarding account closure.
The Ksa considers this unacceptable and has therefore provided further clarification on the regulations through guidance. The key principle is that it must be made as easy as possible for gamblers to close their accounts when they request to do so.
Gambling operators sometimes create hurdles that make closing an account more difficult—for instance, by requiring people to contact customer service first.
The Ksa emphasizes that this is not permitted. When a person contacts customer service or uses the chat function to request closure, the operator must not use that interaction to try to persuade them to stay.
