The Norwegian Gaming Authority intends to block Kalshi

Kalshi, and 60 other gambling websites have received a blocking notice from the Norwegian Gaming Authority, which maintains that the sites violate Norwegian law.

“The procedure is that we issue a notice before making a formal decision. In practice, we have already reached a conclusion,” he says.

The companies must respond to the notice by October 15. A formal decision could follow shortly thereafter.

A total of 62 companies could be blocked. The most prominent among them are Polymarket and Kalshi. 238 gambling websites are already blocked in Norway.

However, Norwegian users can bypass the block by using a VPN service that masks their IP address.

Polymarket is a platform where users can place bets on outcomes involving not only traditional sports but also politics, the economy, and even war. It is not a traditional bookmaker; trading occurs directly between users, who can buy and sell positions as events unfold.

Along with similar services, Polymarket has gained a reputation in recent years as a barometer for global events. At the same time, it remains almost entirely unregulated; unlike sports betting, wagering on topics such as the economy and war creates a significant risk of insider trading.
