Kalshi partners with Signify Group to protect athletes from online abuse and threats
Kalshi, the world’s next-generation financial exchange, today announced a partnership with Signify Group, a global leader in online safety, threat intelligence and investigations, to protect athletes and coaches from online abuse, threats, and harassment linked to its sports markets.
Kalshi users identified as responsible for abusive or threatening behavior may face enforcement action, up to and including permanent account closure. Where appropriate, relevant evidence may also be shared with sports organizations and referred to law enforcement to support further action.
The partnership has three parts: proactive monitoring by Signify’s Threat Matrix service; Kalshi’s participation in the Bad Actor Program, which connects verified abuse to action against accounts associated with those responsible; and a new exchange rule, supported by updated provisions in Kalshi’s platform policies and terms and conditions, making clear that abuse and threats will not be tolerated.
Signify’s Threat Matrix will monitor public social media for abuse, threats and harassment targeting athletes, coaches and sports personnel across the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and ATP Tour, including harmful content associated with Kalshi’s sports markets.
Threat Matrix combines AI-powered detection with specialist human intelligence. It detects harmful content across 32 categories of abuse and threats in more than 100 languages on major social platforms. Signify’s in-house analysts then conduct threat assessments to determine severity and risk, while its open-source intelligence (OSINT) team investigates cases requiring further action.
Where behavior may cross a criminal threshold, evidence will be gathered to support referral to law enforcement and, where appropriate, shared with relevant sports organizations. Kalshi will have visibility into emerging trends, a clear picture of the nature and severity of abuse linked to its markets, and the evidence it needs to enforce its policies and terms and conditions.
The initiative is focused on abusive, threatening and potentially criminal behavior, rather than legitimate criticism or discussion of sports performance.
Kalshi is taking a leading role through its participation in the Bad Actor Program, a joint initiative established by Signify Group and Integrity Compliance 360, Inc. (IC360).
Under the program, Signify identifies and investigates serious cases of online abuse and threats. IC360 technology then enables Kalshi to determine whether those responsible hold accounts on its platform, and Kalshi’s platform policies and terms and conditions provide the basis for enforcement.
Where evidence identifies a Kalshi user as responsible for abusive or threatening behavior, Kalshi can take action under its rules, up to and including permanent account closure. Where appropriate, evidence can also be shared with relevant sports organizations or referred to law enforcement to support further action.
The measures build on Kalshi’s existing market integrity controls, including restrictions preventing athletes, coaches, and other individuals with access to relevant information from trading on their own sports markets. Kalshi already operates extensive proactive monitoring and compliance systems as part of its broader market integrity infrastructure.
