Allwyn renews Cyprus Olympic team partnership ahead of LA28

The Cyprus Olympic Committee and the country’s specialist lottery and sports betting company will continue working together following the recent signing of an agreement in Nicosia to provide resources for elite Cypriot athletes.

The signing ceremony, held at Allwyn Cyprus’s offices, was attended by COC President Georgios Chrysostomou and the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Alexandros Ntavos, as well as leading Cypriot athletes preparing for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

In his speech, Chrysostomou emphasised that the partnership between the two parties was founded ‘on shared values, mutual respect and genuine friendship’. The COC considers the company a Diamond Partner, a designation that places it among the organisation’s closest and longest-standing partners. The COC president highlighted the opportunities available to athletes when greater support is provided and they are equipped with better tools and resources.

The goal, Chrysostomou said, “is to turn opportunities into reality”. During the signing ceremony, those present highlighted their shared commitment not only to sport, but also to health, education, culture and social responsibility. The renewed agreement includes several new provisions allowing Allwyn to involve athletes from the Cypriot Olympic team, who are part of the COC’s support programmes, in the company’s promotional and other activities. Allwyn will also be able to sponsor individual athletes directly, subject to COC approval.

“Support for our athletes cannot be occasional. It must be consistent and long-term, creating the right conditions for their development and success,” Chrysostomou stressed, extending the strategy beyond LA28 to include Brisbane 2032.

Ntavos, for his part, said that “supporting athletes means investing in those who inspire us”. The company’s chief executive officer added that “no athlete moves forward alone”. Shooting athlete Konstantina Nikolaou hosted the ceremony and spoke from her own experience about the dedication required to achieve success and the role that support plays in helping athletes reach their goals. “Family, coaches, teammates and organisations that believe in our potential play a decisive role in this journey,” she said, recalling some of the anecdotes and experiences from her sporting career.
